FACCINTO TAKES RUNNER-UP SPOT AT MADERA
The Gary Scelzi Motorsports team and Michael Faccinto took to their home track of Madera (Calif.) Speedway for the Billy Vukovich Classic and came away with a runner-up finish in midget action last weekend.
The Mopar-powered K&N Filters No. 41 car posted the fastest lap in qualifying at a 14.13. It was the second fast-time this year for the team owned by drag racer Gary Scelzi.
Faccinto started fourth in the main event and quickly jumped to third, where he waged a heated three-way battle with Daniel Bedford and Dallen McKenney. The close-quarters racing eventually brought McKenney and Bedford together. The pair ended up spinning out, but the talented young Faccinto did an excellent job in keeping his Mopar midget out of harm's way. On the restart Faccinto was right on the back bumper of the leader but couldn't complete the pass, taking the checkers with a still-impressive second-place finish.
