Fantasy or Reality?

The OvalTracking.com Fantasy Racing League crowns First Quarter game champions; Second Quarter game starts with this weekend’s races at Talladega and Kansas City.

he thrill of victory, the agony of defeat.  For fantasy NASCAR players, the tension and competition is every bit as real as it is for the drivers and team owners who battle in out in the Cup, Busch and Truck races held almost every weekend from Daytona through Homestead.

And while the purses may be different, the quest for winning is exactly the same.

The free OvalTracking.com Fantasy Racing League presented by Checker, Schuck’s, Kragen and  Murray’s auto parts stores has announced its first, second and third-place winners for the First Quarter game which ended after Saturday night’s NASCAR races in Phoenix.  First place winner Eric Leckey of Mesa, Arizona, won an autographed collectible, an OvalTracking.com Fantasy Racing League t-shirt and CSK Racing hat, plus an $80 gift card good at any Checker, Schuck’s, Kragen or Murray’s auto parts store.  Second place winner Bud Sowle of San Bruno, California and third place winner Denise Berberich of Cave Creek, Arizona will receive similar prizes.

Now, with the first 10-weekend segment of game play over, the competition begins again.  And every player has another chance to select their favorite drivers, put fresh batteries in the remote and watch every race, every weekend to see if their picks score enough points to put their fantasy racing teams in the winner’s circle.

“No one can dispute the popularity of NASCAR racing,” said Jim Schoenberger, Vice President of Marketing for CSK Auto, Inc.  “And our OvalTracking.com Fantasy Racing League gives NASCAR fans a fun, unique way to follow their favorite sport while having a chance to win great prizes based on their skill and knowledge.”

The OvalTracking.com Fantasy Racing League presented by Checker, Schuck’s, Kragen and  Murray’s lets players pick their favorite NASCAR drivers before each weekend’s races with no drafts, salary caps or roster restrictions.  Players choose a total of six drivers every week, at least one per scheduled race, and earn points according to their driver’s actual race results.  Prizes are awarded weekly, by quarterly game, and at the end of the season.

Even if a player starts later in the season, he or she can play for a quarterly championship and become eligible for the “Hunt for the Hardware” game that coincides with NASCAR’s “Chase” over the last 10 races of the season.  By scoring among the top 10 in points on any weekend through early September, players can qualify for the final quarter ‘playoff’ game for a chance to win a trip to Phoenix for the 2008 Checker Auto Parts 500 and other great prizes.

The OvalTracking.com Fantasy Racing League is fun, it’s free, and nobody gets hurt.  But don’t tell the players that.  With Talladega looming, and the chance that a “big one” will take out one of their drivers and cost them a win, the stakes are high and the competition fierce.  And for someone who starts Tony Stewart and watches him start from the pole, lead the most laps and then get caught up in a crash and score zero points, there’s a plenty of “hurt” involved.

NASCAR Cup, Busch and Truck series fans can register and play in the free Second Quarter game by logging on to www.ovaltrackingfantasygame.com at any time before 12 Noon EST on Saturday, April 28, when all picks for this weekends races are due.
